‘The Hobbit’: Watch first trailer for the final film
By Sam Rigby
The first trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies has been unveiled. Watch it below.
The Battle of the Five Armies is the final film in the Hobbit series based on JRR Tolkien’s classic novel, following 2012’s An Unexpected Journey and last year’s The Desolation of Smaug.
The atmospheric two-minute trailer bills the film as the “defining chapter in the Middle Earth saga” and features glimpses of The Hobbit cast favourites including Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly and Richard Armitage.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was directed, like the other films in the series, by Peter Jackson, who previously helmed the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
It will be released on December 12 in the UK, with a US release following five days later on December 17.
