The UK’s Eurovision Song Contest artist and song will be revealed this week.

The highly-anticipated song competition is the highlight of every gay man’s calendar year and the announcement of the UK’s act and song is something we all look forward to.

Unlike previous years, the act to represent the UK has been decided by a public vote through a televised competition.

But for the 2020 competition, the broadcaster announced a change and now the act has been decided by the BBC in collaboration with the record label and publisher BMG.

And this week, the artist and song are set to be revealed on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James and on and Radio 2 with Ken Bruce this Thursday (February 27).

Over the weekend, the Twitter account for Eurovision posted a video of Graham Norton announcing the news.

Norton says: “People of the United Kingdom, this is a very important announcement.

“The reveal of our UK Eurovision artist and song is happening this Thursday on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2.

“Will we finally hear those elusive words… ‘United Kingdom douze points’?”

Last year, Michael Rice’s song ‘Bigger Than Us’ was originally awarded 16 points during the Eurovision Song Contest grand final in Tel Aviv – a score that saw the UK tumble to the very bottom of the results table for the fourth time in sixteen years.

Organisers then revealed that due to an error in estimated the jury votes, the UK in fact should have been awarded even less, with just 11 points. 

The crown was given to The Netherland’s Duncan Lawrence and this year’s competition will be held in Rotterdam in the week of May 11-17.
