The Vivienne announces debut single ‘Tonight’

The 'Drag Race UK' winner is coming for charts and wigs, girlies.

Hold on ta ya wigs gurls, because The Vivienne’s quest for world dominance continues with the news that she’s branching out into music.

The Drag Race UK champion, whose winners’ series The Vivienne Takes Hollywood arrived on BBC Three last month, will release her debut single ‘Tonight’later this month.

Billed as “the epitome of the word banger”, the track will arrive on Wednesday 20 May, and is reportedly influenced by the Liverpudlian drag star’s love of Dead or Alive and ’80s Scouse music.

‘Tonight’ “combines swirling synths, a thumping bass and soaring vocals to create a track that fans of both dance pop and Drag Race worldwide are sure to adore.”

The news comes just weeks after The Vivienne told Attitude she hopes to fill the drag-queen sized gap on British TV left by Paul O’Grady’s Lily Saavage.

“There’s a huge gap in the UK to have that drag queen face you see on TV all the time”, the newly-married performer said.

“We had Lily Savage for years and then once she hung her heels up, it went dry until we had Drag Race. Becoming that drag queen face, that’s my goal.

“You see Alan Carr and Graham Norton, I want to be that for drag.”

The Vivienne Takes Hollywood isn’t the only place you can see Viv on the box right now: Her British spin-off of Trixie and Katya’s I Like to Watch with fellow Drag Race UK finalist Baga Chipz is on Netflix now.
