‘The Walking Dead’ creator confirms Daryl Dixon’s sexuality
By Sam Rigby
creator Robert Kirkman has ended speculation about Daryl Dixon’s sexuality.
The writer said that the character – played by Norman Reedus – is straight, despite recent comments suggesting otherwise.
He said on the show’s companion series The Talking Dead: “We play Daryl Dixon being somewhat asexual on the show. He is a very introverted character, and I think that’s some of his appeal.”
“It caused quite a hubbub online,” Kirkman said of the sexuality rumours. “And I just wanted to make it clear that the possibility is there.
“I would have been fine with it; the network would have been fine with it; but we ultimately didn’t do that. I can make it official: Daryl Dixon is actually straight.”
Back in September, Reedus fuelled speculation that his character was going to come out as gay – read more here.
However, The Walking Dead will introduce a prominent gay character in the second half of its upcoming season.
