Theatre Preview: Bathhouse – The Musical!

By Will Stroude

Gay musical comedy Bathhouse: The Musical is coming to Vauxhall’s award-winning Above The Stag Theatre next month (June), in what promises to be a rib-tickling, toe-tapping, towel-flicking show.

Filled with original songs and scantily-clad men, the show follows wide-eyed Billy as he visits a gay bathhouse for the first time. He’s looking for love, but soon realizes that the other patrons are looking for, um, something a little more temporary…

This is a comedy for mature audiences, with adult themes, language, and nudity – just how we like our musical theatre to be honest.

What’s more, the American show has received rave reviews since its premiere on the other side of the pond in 2006, just take a look below:

“Hilariously campy humour and catchy, foot-tapping tunes” –  TimeOut, Orlando

Angels in America it aint!” – Creative Loafing, Tampa Bay

“…relentlessly camp celebration of pleasure-seeking… moving, raunchy and downright rude… will delight its target audience” – whatsonstage.com

Bathhouse: The Musical! runs from 18th June with tickets starting at £12. For more information and to book tickets visit abovethestag.com
