After cracking the UK iTunes Top 30 with her addictive debut single ‘Outside In’ earlier this year, Tia Kofi has joined forces with legendary producers Cahill for another caffeine rush of pop goodness.
Penned by Martin Sjolie (Sigrid, BTS) and Taneisha Jackson (John Legend, The Chainsmokers). ‘Look What You’ve Done’ is another certified banger from Drag Race UK series two star Tia, 30.
“I thought after the dark electronic beats of ‘Outside In’ it was time to get everyone back into the party mood with an absolute summer jam,” Tia tells Attitude of the track.
“It’s produced by Cahill and is dancey, gorgeous, wonderful and should get everyone up and about.
“Plus there is going to be an incredible music video so we’re not just giving you an audio treat, we’re giving you a visual one too – this is something I’m known for after all!”
With Tia’s previous single ‘Outside In’ receiving its premiere on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 show and with BBC Radio 1 championing British drag icon Jodie Harsh’s latest track ‘My House’, it seems drag queens are being paid their chart dues – something Tia says has been a long time coming.
“The whole art of drag is creative and original and bringing whatever you want to the table. Drag performers have been doing this whole time, it just kinda feels like people are only just starting to catch up”, she tells us.
“I think it’s because of shows like Drag Race giving drag more of a platform and more mainstream potential. People are starting to catch up with things that the queer community have known the whole time.”
You better be keeping an eye out for Tia when the clubs re-open too, because the Clapham queen won’t be holding back when ‘Look What You’ve Done’ is given its first spin on the decks.
“Oh my goodness, when we can actually head back out in the real world, and I actually hear one of my songs pon de dancefloor, do you know I think I might get on the stage and lip sync for my life to my own song”, declares Tia.
“I think that would be quite camp to be honest with you.”
Tia, who says she has “several more brilliant collabs” lined up, also reveals to Attitude which of her workroom sisters she’d most like to team up with on a Drag Race UK duet.
“I would say Lawrence Chaney, because he spent the whole time saying he can’t sing and he can’t dance”, exclaims Tia.
“I’m ready to bring Lawrence into the studio for some vocal lessons, into the dance studio for some choreography, and for us to do a sickening, sickening duet together.
“Full vocal harmonies, full rap lyrics and an eight count to die for.”
