By Will Stroude
The 24th installment in the James Bond series will be entitled Spectre.
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the infamous MI6 spy for a fourth time, following the worldwide success of 2012’s Skyfall, which went on to become the highest-grossing film in the UK ever.
An official plot teaser from Pinewood studios says: “A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE”.
The SPECTRE organisation originally appeared in the first ever Bond film – 1962’s Dr. No – and is led by 007’s arch-nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld, apparently confirming rumours that the villain will feature as the new film’s primary antagonist.
Ben Whishaw,Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris will reprise their roles as Q, M, and Miss Moneypenny respectively, while Monica Belluci and Lea Seydoux have joined the cast as two new Bond girls.
WWE wrestler David Bautista has also been confirmed as part of the line-up – as has Sherlock and former Attitude cover star Andrew Scott, following speculation yesterday that the former Attitude cover star has been cast the film’s main villain – read more here.
Oscar-winner Sam Mendes, who directed the last installment, will return to the director’s chair for Spectre, which is due to starting filming in just four days time.
Spectre is expected to be released in October 2015.
