Tom and Dustin speak out: ‘It’s a dream come true’

Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have spoken out for the first time since announcing their engagement yesterday (October 1).
After more than two years together, the pair made a low-key announcement in the Births, Deaths and Marriages section of The Times newspaper, and have now taken to social media to thank well-wishers, share a picture of their engagement rings and seemingly confirm that it was Tom who popped the question first.
Sharing a picture of the pair’s engagement rings next to the Times announcement, Tom wrote: “#HeSaidYes and then #ISaidYes. Thanks for all the lovely messages!”

Dustin also shared the image, describing the engagement as a “dream come true” and seemingly confirming that it was Tom who popped the question first.

Meanwhile, Tom’s mum Debbie has already begun teasing the pair’s wedding plans, admitting she’s known about the pair’s engagement for a few days and is “very, very happy” for her son and future son-in-law – who she described as a “very likeable person that gets along with everybody”.
Daley, 21, first alluded to his relationship with Black, 41, back in December 2013 in a YouTube video in which he also spoke about his sexuality for the first time.
Since then, the pair have been a public and mutually supportive couple, engaging in charity activities together, sharing adorable holiday snaps with fans and marking anniversaries on social media.
Celebrating their two-year anniversary in March this year, the couple shared messages for each other on their social media accounts.
Daley wrote: “2 years ago I met my [love] and my life changed forever! Thank you for making these past 2 years so special.”
In response, Milk writer Black said: “Two years ago we took a selfie just after meeting…the very moment my life changed forever. Happy Anniversary my love.”
