It’s official: Troye Sivan is four for four on Bloom era music videos.
Exactly a year to the day after he kicked off the era with the cruisy video for ‘My! My! My!’, the 23-year-old Aussie star has dropped visual for his latest single ‘Lucky Strike’, which you’ll be pleased to know is another stunner.
Directed by Emma Westenberg – who helmed another modern queer pop video triumph in the form Janelle Monáe’s ‘Pynk’ last year – the retro-styled clip sees Troye thirsting after a disdy beach bartender, who quite literally tears his heart out in the process.
Not that we’re the jealous type, but who is this man exactly? After what we promise was only mildly crazed internet stalking, we can confirm it’s US fashion model Brandon Good, who will be added to the list of new faves after our envy has subsided.
With its bold colour pallette, striking surrealist elements and subtitled dialogue, the ‘Lucky Strike’ video is very much in the same vein as Selena Gomez’s superb ‘Back to You’ video from last year, taking inspiration from mid-20th century French New Wave films.
All in all, it’s the perfect way to get us in the mood for Troye’s upcoming UK tour dates, which will see the former Attitude cover star play his first UK gigs in three years in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London next month.
