Troye Sivan releases new ’80s-inspired track ‘Easy’
The pop star also teased upcoming EP, ‘In a Dream’ – and we’re counting down the sleeps 'til we can get our mitts on it.
Troye Sivan has dropped his new single ‘Easy’ – but don’t be fooled, it’s actually about how bloody difficult relationships can be.
Now we don’t feel so bad that our most enduring love affair of late is with a super-sized bag of Chilli Heatwave Doritos.
Taking inspo from the 80s, Troye’s latest bop – his second of 2020 after ‘Take Yourself Home’ – is an oh-so-moreish slice of uptempo synth-laden pop.
“I’m still in love, and I say that because I know it seems between you and me, it hasn’t been easy, darlin’,” he sings.
The lyrics then take a darker turn: “I can’t even look at you, would you look at the space just next to your feet, the wood is warping, the lines distorting, this house is on fire, burning the tears right off my face.”
Again, you rarely encounter this problem with crisps…
Co-produced and written with his go-to collaborator Oscar Gorres, aka OzGo, ‘Easy’ will appear on the Australian singer’s upcoming EP, ‘In a Dream.’
Troye, 25 – believed to still be dating model Jacob Bixenman – describes the record as “a story that is still unfolding.”
“This small collection of songs explores an emotional rollercoaster period in my life when the feelings and thoughts were most shockingly fresh.
“Revisiting these songs and moments is tough, but I’m proud of this music and excited to have it out in the world,” he says.
Other titles on ‘In a Dream,’ out 21 August, include ‘STUD’, ‘Ranger Teenager!’ and ‘could cry just thinkin about you.’
