Troye Sivan has slammed an interviewer who asked him whether he was “top or bottom”.
The ‘Bloom’ singer, 24, took to Twitter to air his thoughts on the “wildly invasive” question asked during an interview with New Zealand LGBTQ magazine Express.
The awkward interview saw Troye being asked whether his partner Jacob Bixenman would give him a ‘hall pass’ to sleep with Shawn Mendes, and whether he was a top or a bottom – a question which the Aussie star chose to duck, replying: “Ooo… definitely passing.”
After the interview was shared by a fan on Twitter who criticised its tone, Sivan took the opportunity to hit out at its over-familiar line of questioning.
I thought about asking the interviewer about his absolute fave sex position after that last question, but then i remembered how wildly invasive, strange and innapropriate that would be. Didn’t stop him though! https://t.co/mo80DziQrH

“I thought about asking the interviewer about his absolute fave sex position after that last question, but then i remembered how wildly invasive, strange and innapropriate that would be”, he wrote.
“Didn’t stop him though!”
The singer added: “Next time I’ll just do a Twitter q&a”.
Sivan, who released his second studio album Bloom a year ago, revealed earlier this year that he worried that being so upfront about his sexuality in his music had had a negative impact on his chart success.
“Part of me wonders sometimes if I would be more commercially successful if I wasn’t gay or not as ‘in your face gay’, he said during an appearance on Will Young’s podcast ‘Homo Sapiens’.
“I think we’re in a really interesting time in music right now where we are seeing more and more queer artists pop up, but we don’t have a queer Taylor Swift, we don’t have a queer Rihanna, or a queer Beyoncé.”
