‘True Blood’ star criticises Luke Grimes for ‘gay’ exit

‘s Nelsan Ellis has criticised former co-star Luke Grimes for leaving the show over reportedly having to play gay.

The actor made it clear that he is confused by Grimes’s decision to leave the HBO series, but stopped himself from talking about it in any great detail.

It has been reported that Grimes exited the show because he was uncomfortable with an upcoming romantic storyline featuring his character and the show’s much-loved gay character, Lafayette Reynolds, played by Ellis.

Ellis told Vulture: “I mean, I can say I’m not going to make a comment, but I just think that, you’re an actor, you’re an actor on a show that’s True Blood, we’re all sitting there going, ‘You quit your job because … really?’

“I’m just… I’m over him. You quit your job because you don’t want to play a gay part? As if it’s … You know what? I’m going to stop talking.”

Grimes has denied that he quit the show because he was uncomfortable with the proposed gay storyline, instead citing his commitment to films like Fifty Shades of Grey and American Sniper as the reason – read more here.
