‘Twin Peaks’ returns: Showtime confirms nine-episode third series

Twin Peaks
is to return for a long-awaited third series in 2016, when the cult show celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Recent teasing by the show’s creators, Mark Frost and David Lynch, led to speculation that a comeback was close to being confirmed.
Today, Showtime announced that nine new episodes will air in early 2016, 25 years after the critically-acclaimed drama was axed by ABC.
The revival will be set in the present day, while Deadline reports that original star Kyle MacLachlan could reprise his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.
Showtime teased that the new series will “continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series’ passionate fan base.”
