Tyson Beckford encourages LGBT community to ‘shoot back’ in event of Orlando-style attack
By Josh Lee
While most of the LGBT community and allies urged for non-violence in the wake of the Orlando terror attacks, American Model Tyson Beckford believes LGBT people should protect themselves against attacks by getting gun-trained – and is planning LGBT-specific classes, according to his Instagram page.
Omar Mateen’s shooting spree at Pulse nightclub, Orlando in June this year claimed 49 lives.
Adopting a similar outlook to gun advocates including Donald Trump, who argued the massacre could have been averted if those in the venue had been armed themselves, the 45-year-old reposted an image of the Pride flag with a snake superimposed on it, with the hashtag #ShootBack on Friday (November 11) from firearms instructor Suleiman Yousef, with whom he has been working on the project.
Yousef post reads: “Ever since the Orlando shooting @tysoncbeckford and I have been working on some projects to give back to the masses.
“In mid/late December we will be hosting multiple firearms self defense classes for FREE in Miami Florida to the #LGBT community. Sad to say that we both stand behind our 2nd Amendment but the masses in the industry who preach “God and Country” are EXTREMELY homophobic and we won’t stand for it.
“We will be posting the dates and location after December 1st. #teamtyson If you or anyone you know is interested please comment / tag them below. We got your six! Dates for cities near you soon, spread the word and repost! P.S.
“For those who have a problem with this see yourself to the UNFOLLOW button. Have an awesome day! #tysonbeckford #teamtyson #shootback”
