‘Veronica Mars’ film to be released in the UK
By Josh Haggis
The Veronica Mars film is to have a limited release in UK cinemas – though its theatrical opening date has yet to be set.
The big screen version of the classic teen series starring Kristen Bell was financed by fans on fundraising site Kickstarter last year (2013).
In an email to the project’s international backers, the show’s creator Rob Thomas confirmed that the film will open in the UK and Ireland through Empire and Showcase cinemas.
The film picks up over nine years after the series concluded, and finds former teen detective Veronica (Bell) living in New York with Piz (Chris Lowell), pursuing a career in law.
Veronica Mars originally aired for three seasons between 2004 and 2007 before being axed by US network The CW. Over its run, it developed a sizeable cult following and rumours of a film version had been rife online ever since it was cancelled.
