Watch: First trailer for Amy Winehouse documentary released
Altitude Film have realised the debut trailer for upcoming documentary film, Amy. The biopic illustrates the life of Amy Winehouse leading up to her tragic death in 2011, aged just 27.
The film uses real archive footage of Winehouse, depicting her journey of becoming an international music icon.
Directed by Asif Kapadia who has won multiple BAFTA’s – including best documentary in 2012 for Senna – Amy is set to be an accurate documentary that portrays her life in a way that very few could interpret. Kapadia is not the only name bringing Amy’s life to the big screen. The award-winning team behind Senna are reunifying to document the film of the six-time Grammy winner.
On the film’s official Facebook page, James Gay-Rees and Kapadia said: “This is an incredibly modern, emotional and relevant film that has the power to capture the zeitgeist and shine a light on the world we live in, in a way that few films can.”
Amy is scheduled for a cinema release here in the UK for July 3 2015. Watch the trailer below:
