Watch Jonah Hill give emotional apology for gay slur

Premiere Of Twentieth Century Fox's "The Watch" - Arrivals

Jonah Hill has apologised for a second time after directing a gay slur at a member of the paparazzi over the weekend.

The actor branded the photographer a “faggot” after he continued to goad and follow him through the streets.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the 22 Jump Street actor gave an emotional apology, explaining that his heart is “broken”.

He said: “I didn’t mean this in the sense of the word, I didn’t mean it in a homophobic way,[but] I think that doesn’t matter, how you mean things doesn’t matter… words have weight and meaning. The word I chose was grotesque and no one deserves to say or hear words like that.

“My heart’s broken and I am genuinely and deeply sorry to anyone who has ever been affected by that term in their life.”

The actor described himself as a “gay rights activist” yesterday in his initial apology. He has previously spoken out in support of the LGBT community, following the introduction of anti-gay laws in Russia.
