Watch | Melissa Rivers plays late mother Joan in J-Law’s ‘Joy’
By Will Stroude
Just over a year since her mother’s untimely death, Melissa Rivers has honoured Joan Rivers’ memory by portraying the late comedian onscreen in new drama film Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence.
The film charts the rise of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano (played by Lawrence) from her humble beginnings to becoming the president of Ingenious Designs. In exclusive photos from People and an ET exclusive clip, Melissa Rivers is can be seen looking the spitting image of Joan during her QVC days, where Joy made her name selling her products.
Rivers told ET: “I can’t watch myself, and especially like that. I think I was so focused on the details and trying to do a good job that it never hit me that I took this crazy emotional risk until I got home and went, ‘What did I just do?'”
As you can see from this old archive image, it’s a pretty uncanny portrayal…
