Watch: Rihanna throws money at BET Awards boss
By Will Stroude
Rihanna continued to score a perfect 10 in the ‘not giving a sh*t’ category at last night’s Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards in Los Angeles (June 28), after throwing a wad of money in the President of Programming’s face.
The 27-year-old Diamonds singer – who earlier in the evening was seen taping former world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather’s mouth shut – was seen shouting “But why?” at BET’s Stephen Hill, before nonchanlantly throwing the cash in his face, US Weekly reports.
Cash spent, Rhi-Rhi sauntered on stage to introduce a preview to the video for recent single B*tch Better Have My Money – which she later confirmed would premiere in full on Vevo this Thursday (July 2).
Watch the incident unfold below:
Many fans theorised that Rihanna had wanted to throw the cash out into the audience, and was angered when Hill said that wouldn’t be possible. While their conversation is largely inaudible, it does appear rather like Ri-Ri also says “This is why I f*cking hate doing BET”.
The star’s reps later clarified to Billboard that the incident was in fact staged, and the pair were later seen kissing and making up in a picture posted on Rihanna’s Instagram.
To be honest though, the fact this needed an official clarification speaks volumes.

Meanwhile, the ceremony also saw Sam Smith named Best New Artist, while Pill N’ Potion singer and rapper Nicki Minaj was crowned best female hip-hop artist for the sixth time in a row.
Incidentally, Rihanna has been rumoured to have collaborated with Smith on her long-awaited eighth studio album, which has already spawned singles FourFiveSeconds, American Oxygen and the aforementioned B*tch Better Have My Money.
Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson recently covered the cash-splashing track in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge – listen to the incredible result here.
