Watch | Sia unveils stunning new video for ‘Alive’
By Will Stroude
Sia’s unveiled the video for her latest single ‘Alive’, and in keeping with the child prodigy theme of her last album’s visuals, it’s another stunner.
Directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, the video for the rousing number swaps ‘Chandelier’ and ‘Elastic Heart’ star Maddie Ziegler for a pint-sized martial arts fighter, who delivers an emotive and fearsome routine in an abandoned warehouse.
‘Alive’ is the first to be lifted from Sia’s upcoming seventh album This is Acting, which sees the camera-shy Aussie chanteuse record tracks she originally wrote for other artists.
“It’s about Adele’s life, so I now sing a song from Adele’s perspective,” said the 39-year-old, who has previously penned songs for artists like Britney, Beyonce and Rihanna.
“This is the first song from this new project. I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”
This Is Acting will serve as the follow-up to 2014’s 1000 Forms of Fear, which spawned hit singles Chandelier andElastic Heart.
