Most of us did the Ice Bucket Challenge over a year ago but Eamonn Holmes was moved to complete it this week after meeting the midwife who helped kickstart the craze at the Pride of Britain Awards.

Sir Ian McKellen helped it take place on This Morning yesterday (October 2) and light-heartedly threw in an A+ zinger as the newsreader shivered.

After joining Ruth Langsford in hurling the unbearably cold water over him, the veteran actor said: “That wasn’t so bad, was it? Eamonn Holmes speechless – we’ve all longed for that.”

It’s times like these when the nail-paint emoji is all that’s necessary.
