Watch: Taylor Swift and Alanis duet on ‘You Oughta Know’
By Nick Bond
We’ll admit, even we were starting to tire of the litany of Special Guest Stars Taylor Swift’s been hauling on stage during her 1989 world tour. From close celeb pals to surprise ring-ins like Joan Baez and Julia Roberts, Swift’s penchant for dragging household names up on stage with her even earned her a hilarious parody video.
But we’ve gotta admit, she pulled a good one out of the bag this time. Performing at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles last night, Swift introduced an artist who “inspired a generation of confessional female singer-songwriters,” an artist who showed “you can get really, really mad if you want to.”
“She has written arguably the greatest break-up song of all time. Here to sing You Oughta Know, Alanis Morissette!”
AMAZING. Alanis is on the publicity trail for the upcoming release of the 20th anniversary deluxe edition of You Oughta Know‘s parent album, the world-conquering Jagged Little Pill. Nothing like a well-timed duet with the world’s biggest pop star to remind everyone how much you kick arse…
Because a Taylor Swift show isn’t complete nowadays without at least TWO celeb cameos, Swifty also brought out talk-show queen Ellen DeGeneres to strut the stage while she performed hit single Style:
