An action-packed trailer for season four of Homeland has been unveiled by Showtime. Watch it below.

Homeland, a critically-acclaimed political drama created by US cable network Showtime, has won seven Golden Globe awards since it debuted in 2011, and centres around CIA officer Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, who is living with bipolar disorder.

The trailer shows the now grieving agent Mathison being sent to turbulent areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan on a new assignment.

The upcoming fourth season has been described as a “reboot” by the show producer’s Alex Gansa, following the shock departure of Damian Lewis’s Nicholas Brody at the end of season three.

Season four of Homeland premieres on October 5 in the US. In the UK, the show airs on Channel 4 and is expected to begin shortly afterwards.
