The first trailer for the new big screen adaptation of Annie has been released. Watch it below.

Produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z, the film is a contemporary re-imagining of the classic stage musical and stars ten-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis (Oscar-nominated for 2012’s Beasts of the Southern Wild) as the titular orphan.

The two-and-a-half minute trailer features glimpses of Wallis’s Annie singing the two most well-known songs from the much-loved musical, Tomorrow and It’s A Hard Knock Life.

Alongside Wallis, Cameron Diaz plays baddie Miss Hannigan, while Jamie Foxx co-stars as Will Stacks, a character based on the original’s wealthy politician Daddy Warbucks. The supporting cast includes Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne.

Will Gluck (Friends With Benefits, Easy A) directed from a script which had input from Emma Thompson.

Annie is set to open in US cinemas on December 19 before getting a UK release on February 6, 2015.
