Some five years after shooting began, the first-look trailer for the Panti Bliss documentary The Queen Of Ireland is here.
The film follows the Irish drag diva – aka Rory O’Neill – as she goes from drag queen to figurehead of a civil rights movement, her stirring speeches about life as a member of the LGBT community helping to galvanise the marriage equality movement in Ireland.

You might notice a glowing Five Star review flash across the screen in the trailer from none other than Attitude – our own Ben Kelly saw a preview of the film and had this to say:
“The Queen Of Ireland is the powerful story of Ireland’s premiere drag queen told against the backdrop of the country’s LGBT coming of age. It’s a perfectly captured documentary that shows Panti in the spotlight and behind the scenes, in the year she became the symbol of Ireland’s march towards marriage equality.”
The Queen Of Ireland hits cinemas on October 21 – just a week after Panti’s brilliant one-woman show High Heels In Low Places returns for a short season at the Soho Theatre. It’s official: October is Panti month!
