Watch: Tom Hardy plays bisexual gangster twins in ‘Legend’

By Will Stroude

Tom Hardy playing twins? Tom Hardy playing twins, one of whom is bisexual?

This is not the stuff of dreams, it’s happening. In new movie Legend to be precise, which is based on the lives of notorious 1960’s London gangsters The Kray Twins – and the first full-length trailer is finally here.

Hardy plays Reggie and Ronnie Kray, the East End’s most infamous criminals in the 1950s and ’60s. Ronnie was openly bisexual, and after years of involvement in armed robberies, arson, extortion, assaults and even murder, the pair were finally arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1969.

From LA Confidential director Brian Helgeland, Legend follows the pair at the height of their infamy, and co-stars Christopher Eccleston, Paul Bettany, David Thewlis and Kingsman‘s Taron Egerton.

While the film looks incredible enough, frankly watching the two and half minute trailer is worth it just to hear the following words pass Tom Hardy’s lips: “I prefer boys. Italian. Sometimes Greek, but I’m not prejudiced.”

If you need a little something to tide you over until September when the film finally hits screens, why not check out our picture special of the Mad Max star here.
