Watch Years & Years’ brand new music video for ‘Meteorite’

By Will Stroude

Years & Years recently unveiled their first new material since the release of debut album Communion over a year ago, and the music video is a glittery slice of wonder that can perk up even the gloomiest of Thursday mornings.

Decked out in a Lara Jensen-designed outfit consisting of 86,000 Swarovski crystals (go on, count them), Olly Alexander twirls on a stage, imploring his love to hit him “like a meteorite”.

Olly commented that it was “an honour to follow in the footsteps of some of my heroes (Britney, Beyoncé etc.) and be decked out in tens of thousands of dazzling crystals!” – and it certainly works, with the 26-year-old looking as though he’s made entirely of stardust.

It’s three and a half minutes of camp visual perfection, theatrical choreography (an inspired combination of Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’ and Sia’s ‘The Greatest’), and oodles and oodles of sparkles. What more could a guy ask for?

‘Meteorite’ is featured on the soundtrack Bridget Jones’ Baby, which is in cinemas now. Check out the music video below:
