Others say they love the fact we have our own culture, with Nicola Foiti saying: “The best part about being gay is being able to foster a sense of humour to battle against being bullied and all these terrible legislations.”
Hayley Star Show adds: “The best part about being gay is being a drag queen… I get to wear a dress with a penis up my butt and people celebrate that.”
Wavey told The Huffington Post: “Our queerness makes us different. It makes us stick out. And when you’re young, being different doesn’t always feel good.”
“As a young gay boy, I remember hating my gayness; I wanted to fit in and be like everyone else. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that being queer is a tremendous gift that has filled my life with incredible experience, wonderful people and a journey of self-exploration and discovery that I’d never have otherwise.”
He goes on to further express how YouTube has been an excellent way to increased the visibility of LGBT people around the world.
As well as the many people who have taken to the site to post videos exploring LGBT issues, many well-known vloggers with audiences of millions have used the platform to publicly come out.
