White Dee, the unlikely star of controversial Channel 4 series Benefits Street, has hosted a gay club night in aid of guide dogs.

The event was held yesterday (March 6) at the 1000-capacity Club DV8, one of Birmingham’s most popular and longest- running gay clubs.

Chatting to attitude.co.uk the morning after,  the club’s general manager Adam Kennedy admitted he was unsure how Dee – whom he has known personally for many years – would go down at the event.

However, the event was a sell-out and Dee apparently “went down a storm” with the club’s gay punters.

“Everyone had a really good night,” he recalled. “Dee was giving everyone kisses – and she went on to an after bar with everyone too.”

Dee, full name Deirdre Kelly, waived her appearance fee in favour of a donation to her late mother’s favourite guide dog charity. Go Dee!
