Will Young has officially joined Tinder
Will Young has been spotted on the dating app, Tinder.
The 37-year-old pop star’s dating profile is filled with several selfies along with a short bio that read, “I like stuff”, according the Metro, who note that the account isn’t fake or that of a look-a-like as the photos used are not publicly available, though are part of the same sets he’s posted on social media.
The ‘Jealousy’ singer came out following his Pop Idol victory in 2002, and may still be feeling lonely after his ex-boyfriend Jesse returned to America last year.
Speaking to Attitude at the time, he revealed: “Sadly romance isn’t going well. My ex-boyfriend Jesse has just gone back to America. He was the best relationship I ever had. He was going back for visa reasons and neither of us wanted to do long-distance.”
Asked if he would ever use dating apps to find love, Young said he never had before because he of his position in the public eye, but was coming round to the idea.
“I feel differently now,” he said. “I know someone who is getting married after meeting online. There are so many ways of people getting together.”
After wowing crowds when he stripped off on stage at G-A-Y Heaven in London last year, it’s safe to say Mr Young might be getting more than a ‘few super-likes’.
Meanwhile, the star spoke candidly about his mental health struggles, admitting that his internal battle with the ‘shame’ of being gay left him addicted to porn and alcohol.
“I was a love addict, I still am an addict, addicted to porn, certainly addicted to alcohol,” he told an audience at National Student Pride. “I’d never been on a date without having at least two drinks before I’d left the house and I didn’t even notice that was a problem.
“Drugs I didn’t really get into. I toyed around with it, but it didn’t really stick with me so much.”
He added: “I will keep coming back to shame because it’s such a fundamental thing. Until I conquered it, I just kept having sex to fill the void, watching porn, shopping, anything.”
