X Factor diva Fleur East announces debut single

By Shaun Kitchener

X Factor’s Fleur East is finally readying her debut single, set to release in just a few weeks’ time.

The 27-year-old, who was the runner-up of last year’s show behind winner Ben Haenow, will release her first track Sax on October 23.

The scheduling means she’ll be just two weeks behind Haenow’s new one Second Hand Heart; a collaboration with Kelly Clarkson.

Although the collaborators on Sax are unknown at the moment, Fleur’s list of contributors for her debut album is pretty impressive: she’s been in the studio with the likes of Ed Drewett (1D’s Best Song Ever, Little Mix’s Black Magic), Wayne Hector (Nicki Minaj, Olly Murs, Westlife), TMS (Jess Glynne, Sigma, Ella Henderson) and the show’s own vocal coach Iain James (Leona Lewis, Matt Cardle, Little Mix).

Last year Fleur hit No1 on the UK iTunes chart with her version of Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk!, which in turn prompted the male duo’s label to release the official version ahead of schedule.

She and Haenow allowed Simon Cowell’s Overs category to occupy the top two positions for the first time in The X Factor’s history. The mogul is mentoring the same category this year.
