The X Factor musical I Can’t Sing! was abandoned mid-performance last night (March 17) because of a technical difficulty.

The entire second act of the show was cancelled, our friends at Digital Spy report, after a 45-minute delay caused by an electrical fault at the London Palladium.

Sean Foley, the director of the musical, appeared on stage and informed patrons that the show was to be cut short – and that tickets could be refunded or exchanged for an upcoming performance.

The eagerly-anticipated musical is currently holding preview performances before its official start date next Wednesday (March 26). It has already been plagued by delays and technical difficulties, with audiences at some preview performances facing an extended interval of around 45 minutes between the first and second act.

I Can’t Sing! stars former EastEnders actor Nigel Harman as Simon Cowell, and is a musical comedy that pokes fun at the sharp-tongued mogul’s reality television empire. Harry Hill and award-winning composer Steve Brown wrote the script and music.
