By Will Stroude
Since wowing the judges in his first audition with an emotional rendition of Queen’s ‘The Show Must Go On’, The X Factor‘s Seann Miley Moore has quickly become of the ITV singing competition’s most fascinating contestants in quite some time.
In a new interview with Now, the 24-year-old singer admits that his flamboyant appearance has led to him being verbally and physically assaulted in the past, but that he refuses to let such incidents stifle who he really is.
“People praise me for being so comfortable in my own skin,” he tells the magazine. “But there was a time I was afraid.”
He continues: “I’ve gone through verbal and physical assault and people will shout things as I walk down the street, but it doesn’t faze me anymore. I’m a proud gay man. Haters are gonna hate but they’re usually the insecure ones. I just blow them a kiss.”
Discussing his extravagant style, he explains: “I think it was just a transition and one day I decided to walk out into the world as I wanted – and I felt fabulous in a skirt and women’s clothes.”
The Aussie native also reveals that despite his confident demeanour he’s never had a boyfriend.
Insisting his relationship with mentor Nick Grimshaw is on a “professional basis” only, Sean added: “I’ve never been in love and never had a boyfriend; no one has ever understood me.
“I’m just focused on the show right now. Don’t they say when you stop looking for love is when you find it?”
The X Factor returns this weekend for the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition, where Sean’s a hot a hot favourite to make it to the final 12 and live shows in Nick Grimshaw’s Boys category.
