Maxim Baldry has been cast in the Amazon Prime Lord of the Rings series.
Best known for starring in Russell T Davies’ latest TV project, Years and Years, Baldry has joined the upcoming adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s iconic world, according to Collider.
Although, Baldry’s casting has been confirmed, his role is yet to be revealed.
Other cast includes Australian actress Markella Kavenagh as a character called Tyra and Will Poulter in another undisclosed role.
The world of Tolkien was brought to the big screen in Peter Jackson’s award winning Lord of the Rings trilogy starring the likes of Sir Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean.
Jackson then went on to adapt Tolkien’s prequel novel, The Hobbit, into another three films starring Martin Freeman, Luke Evans and McKellen again, who reprised his role as Gandalf the Grey.
The new series will reportedly explore new storylines preceding The Fellowship of the Ring, which is the first of three volumes of the epic novel, The Lord of the Rings.
According to IndieWire.com, there were some rumours that the series would focus on a young Aragorn (portrayed by Viggo Mortensen in the Jackson movies).
