YouTuber Trevor Moran comes out: ‘I was in a glass closet’

By Shaun Kitchener

YouTube sensation Trevor Moran has come out as gay in a new video.

The teenager has nearly 1 million subscribers on the site, and is also launching a music career – he made hints towards his sexuality in the video for I Wanna Fly last week but has now put an official label on it.

“I feel like I was never in a closet, I feel like I was in like a glass closet. Like you could fucking see me, like, ‘Bitch come out we fucking see you. We see you!’” he said.

“I thought I was bisexual for a long time because I was just so frightened by the word gay…I did definitely try to be straight and experiment with girls – it just doesn’t work.”

Since yesterday his candid clip, titled “I’M GAY! :)”, has had over 135,000 views at time of writing.

Even if you’ve never heard of Trevor, there’s no denying his appeal: one of his music videos – Someone – has clocked over 2.2 million plays, and his non-VEVO channel has clocked up a running total of 34.4 million hits.

He also has 1.4 million followers on Twitter and 350,000 likes on Facebook.

Long story short: he’s a popular guy.
