Zac Efron on ‘Grease’ TV role: ‘Those are big shoes to fill’
By Josh Haggis
Zac Efron has discussed the possibility of starring in the forthcoming TV adaptation of Grease.
Deadline reported yesterday (April 29) that US network Fox is planning a three-hour live broadcast of the iconic 1978 movie musical, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
Fox’s live Grease broadcast will air some time in 2015 – and the casting of much-loved characters like Danny, Sandy and Rizzo has yet to be announced.
Asked by E! News about taking a part in the new Grease, Efron replied: “That’s an honour. Those are big shoes to fill. I think I came as close to it as you could in High School Musical. To actually do that? Yeah, those are big shoes.”
Efron previously starred in the wildly successful High School Musical trilogy, as well as the 2007 film version of the musical Hairspray.
