Zac Efron set to star in Baywatch movie
By Nick Bond
Lovers of Zac Efron wearing very little clothing have a new reason to celebrate: the hunky actor is in talks to star in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of iconic 90s TV show Baywatch.
Efron is in negotiations to star opposite Dwayne Johnson in Paramount’s Baywatch, the big-screen take on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The story centers on a ‘by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon’. Sounds like a surefire Oscar winner to us.
The original Baywatch was, in its prime, the most-watched TV show in the world, making global stars of Pamela Anderson, David Hasselhoff and, uh, Yasmine Bleeth. This new adaptation is being touted as a comedy, suggesting it’ll share a similar knowing humour with that other successful big screen reboot of a cheesy TV show, 21 Jump Street.
In important Efron-related news recently, the 27-year old used his Instagram to drop quite the bombshell: His younger brother is just as cute as he is (and in some cultures, maybe cuter).
Pictures of Zac Efron in his pants on the set of his new film Dirty Grandpa also appeared online recently – we can only hope that similar pics emerge once Baywatch starts shooting. *Lights prayer candle*
