Actor and Instagram comedian Jordan Firstman is embarking on a new creative venture with the announcement of his first studio album.
The LP, entitled Secrets, is a collection of songs he recorded inspired by submissions to his popular Instagram Q&A series ‘Secrets’, in which Firstman responds to secret admissions his followers submit to him anonymously.
The Rotting In The Sun actor revealed in an interview with Billboard that he first collaborated with his friend Brad Oberhofer to create the music which he says spans a variety of genres including jazz, country, grunge, funk and even one song in which he raps in the style of UK drill star Central Cee.
The album will also include production from ShyGirl collaborator Sega Bodega and Blake Slatkin, best known for his work with Lil Nas X and Charli xcx. Zach Dawes, a frequent collaborator of Lana Del Rey’s, has also worked on the project.
Speaking on an Instagram live yesterday evening, Firstman elaborated further on the album’s content saying the music is “very sex forward.”
“You gotta get them in with sex, I know that works for me,” he explained. He also teased that he is planning an outrageous and raunchy publicity stunt as part of the album’s promotional campaign. “One thing I’m doing in a couple of weeks is the most outlandish thing I’ve ever done in my career and maybe my life.
“It’s truly the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m very scared to do it but I fear I have to.”
The comedian also revealed he is hoping to appear on a late night talk show to promote the album but that it’s proving difficult because many of the songs are too explicit to be performed on television.
The album will be preceded by just one single entitled ‘I Wanna See My Friends’ Dicks’ which is out on 14 March. “I’m only doing one single because it’s a concept album, it just makes more sense for the premise,” Firstman explained.
The actor is releasing the album with Capitol Records, home to artists like Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Troye Sivan and Ice Spice.
‘I Wanna See My Friends’ Dicks’ is out this Friday 14 March, followed by the album Secrets on 11 April.
