Le Fil dishes on Drag Race UK’s ‘unfortunate’ Snatch Game trend
Exclusive: The latest eliminated queen chats to Tia Kofi in Attitude's Tea Time.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK‘s Le Fil has shared his thoughts on the “unfortunate trend” with Drag Race UK when it comes to Snatch Game.
The 37-year-old queen sashayed away from the fourth series of Drag Race UK in the latest episode after landing in the bottom two with Black Peppa.
Le Fil, who uses he/him and they/them pronouns in and out of drag, chose to do their Marie Kondo impersonation over Posh Spice and failed to wow RuPaul in the maxi challenge.
Speaking to Attitude Tea Time with Tia Kofi, who was also eliminated from Drag Race UK in Snatch Game week, the two connected over their “shared bond for life”.
On why they didn’t do Posh Le Fil shares they had done the Spice Girl “so often” while touring with Mel C in the past.
The Brighouse queen also reveals that RuPaul had shared that Mel B would be judging the runway, which put Le Fil off even more.
Le Fil says celeb comedy is not something he’s done much of. “I’ve never put that on my CV. I’m not going to put that on my CV. But I was like, ‘I can do this’. So, I was literally, gun-ho, holding on for dear life, getting the jokes out as much as I can. And I had fun. I loved doing my stuff and I didn’t think I was that bad. I think there was other stuff that was questionable as well.”
Though Le Fil is reluctant to name anyone he thought was “questionable” he diplomatically says there was an “equal amount of badness and goodness”.
Discussing which other Drag Race UK queens who’ve been eliminated after Snatch Game they’ve been in touch with after their elimination, Le Fil points out, “it’s funny innit? There’s a pattern,” after naming River Medway.
Besides Tia and Le Fil, Sum Ting Wong, River Medway, and Pangina Heals on UK vs the World have all been eliminated after Snatch Game.
After Tia picks up on the pattern Le Fil says, “I noticed that as a viewer so I think it was more like, ‘let’s see how this is going to go. Aside from this pattern, I already knew that this was probably the week that I would go home.
“Starting on Snatch Game both [Black] Peppa and I were like ‘okay, this could be the week that we go’.”
But he says he had fun and lived his best life. Asked if they felt pressure as a result of this “unfortunate trend” Le Fil says, “completely”.
Continuing he says he wanted to represent an Asian character to boost representation and hoped that he would break the pattern.
Elsewhere in the conversation Tia and Le Fil discuss the Asian influences Le Fil brought to Drag Race UK as well as their use of pronouns.
On the latter he shares, “there’s many ways of representing masculinity. That’s what I wanted to get across.”
They add, “It’s redefining and opening what gender is about and how it is expressed.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK continues on BBC Three and the BBC iPlayer on Thursdays at 9pm.
