RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Black Peppa is throwing it back to the early noughties on her infectious debut single ‘Why Is She Calling?’

The Carribbean-born, Birmingham-based drag star, who *spoiler alert!* secured her spot in the Drag Race UK season 4 grand finale this week, has sampled Mya’s 2000 R&B classic ‘Case of the Ex’ for her first release on Intention Records.

Produced by Parx, ‘Why Is She Calling?’ is an irresistable slice of ballroom house that sees Peppa issue a warning to love rivals as she declares: “Ain’t no other b*tch like me / Carribbean empress baby!”

Originally released in the summer of 2000, Mya’s ‘Case of the Ex’ peaked at Number Two on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and at Number Three on the Official UK Singles Chart.

Drag Race UK fans will see Black Peppa attempt to snatch the crown next Thursday (24 November) as she goes head-to-head with fellow queens Cheddar Gorgeous, Danny Beard and Jonbers Blonde during the season 4 grand finale.

Black Peppa ‘Why Is She Calling?’ is available to stream and download now.
