2017 has already brought with it the happy news that former Championship football star Robbie Rogers and Arrow producer Greg Berlanti are set to tie the knot.
The couple, who have been dating since 2013 and welcomed their first son, Caleb Berlanti, via surrogacy last February, announced they were engaged on New Year’s Eve in a pair of heartfelt Instagram posts.
“Thank you to everyone before us that made this moment possible… I feel extremely lucky and blessed to end 2016 engaged to the love of my life,” wrote Rogers, who now plays for LA Galaxy, in America, after originally retiring from the sport after coming out publicly in 2013.
Berlanti, who began his career as a writer and executive producer on Dawson’s Creek and has since worked as a producer for everything from Brothers & Sisters to Supergirl, echoed his new fiancé’s sentiment in his own post.
“2016 was memorable for many reasons, for me as the year my heart doubled in size,” the 44 year old wrote. “First, when my son Caleb was born. And second, a few days ago, when I got engaged to my soulmate.
“Though I dreamed of both those things happening, I’m not sure I truly believed they were possible”.
