Can you guess whether someone is bisexual just from looking at them? – WATCH
National Student Pride wants to challenge stereotypes about bisexual people.
A new video by the National Student Pride asks if you can tell someone is bisexual just by looking at them.
The Pride organisation has revealed that one of the keys themes of this year’s event in London on 10 February will be bisexuality; a part of the LGBT community that is often underrepresented and erased.
Now, in a new video, a line of young people are questioned, judge and grilled by someone who goes on to guess their sexuality.
The challenge is to work out who is bisexual, and you might be surprised which of the line-up are…
According to National Student Pride, the video was designed to challenge stereotypes about bisexual people and discuss common misconceptions and labels that bisexual people face.
The video also goes beyond bisexuality and takes a look at bi+ identities too such as pansexuality in which people have sexual or romantic attraction to anyone of any sex or gender identity.
Bi activist and National Student Pride panel host Lewis Oakley said the video shows why bisexuals deserve better from the LGBT community.
He said: “From spaces to meet one another, bi inclusive media output and even official representatives who look after the needs of bisexuals.”
Oakley will chair a panel of bisexual+ people who will have an open discussion about biphobia and bi erasure. Guests include Nichi Hodgson, a journalist, broadcaster, author and sex educator, as well as Jen Yockney MBE, the first MX to make the Honours List and first MBE for “services to the bisexual community”.
Two other guests are set to join the panel but will be announced at a later date.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Big Brother star Courtney Act will attend the National Student Pride event to host a Queer Dates competition on February 10.
National Student Pride starts February 9-11, 2018, at the University of Westminster in London. Buy tickets at studentpride.co.uk.
