Dominic Cooper and Zander Hodgson cover Attitude’s August issues
The 'Mamma Mia' star talks about working with Cher and the model discusses homophobia in the fashion industry

To mark Attitude’s new August issue, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again! star Dominic Cooper and British model Zander Hodgson lead the two covers.
Cooper became a household name when he starred as Sky in the 2008 movie adaptation of the hit stage show Mamma Mia! and now he is returning the ABBA-inspired sequel alongside Cher and Meryl Streep as well as his ex-girlfriend Amanda Seyfried.
However, in Attitude’s exclusive interview, the actor insists he is still close friends with Seyfried and admits it was “nice to spend time” with her.
Cooper says: “She’s a friend. It was always going to be OK. You just have to be delicate with those situations.
“She’s married now and has a beautiful child. We knew we were going to be working together [again] on a set, going back to a part which was certainly going to remind us of 10 years earlier, but I know her family, I know her mum, who was there a lot.
“It was a pleasant atmosphere. It was really interesting to see how different our lives are after 10 years. It is a long time and it was nice to spend time [with her].”
Hodgson – who only publicly came out this year – talks about the homophobia he has experienced in the fashion industry and how he was told to “tone down his sexuality”.
The model says: “Even when the industry has so many gay photographers and designers, there are so few ‘out’ male models.
“I think a question has to be asked: Why isn’t it marketable to have a gay actor or model in a film or a campaign?
“It has something to do with this homophobic ceiling. That’s part of the reason I came out — I was being part of the system by hiding my sexuality.”
Elsewhere in this issue meet the winners of the Attitude Pride Awards 2018, celebrate Madonna’s 60th birthday with a look back at her greatest moments, and Team GB’s first karate world champion in 12 years Jordan Thomas.
