Kesha has opened up about her bisexuality, and teased that she and her long-term boyfriend aren’t strictly monogamous.
In an exclusive interview in the Attitude’s December issue – out now to order globally and to download to any device – the ‘Tik Tok’ singer says there wasn’t a countdown to coming out.
“I never hid [my bisexuality] from anybody. I never had a moment of feeling I had to come out about it,” she says.
“It was always there. I think I had a conversation with a gay magazine in the US and they just asked me, ‘Oh, are you bisexual?’ and I was like, ‘Obviously!’

“I have always been attracted to the soul behind a person’s eyes. It has never occurred to me to care about a specific gender, or how someone is identifying, to make me wonder about whether or not I’m attracted to them.”
Kesha – who appeared in Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed a Girl’ music video back in 2008 befor her own solo breakthrough – reveals that she has dated women in the past but she hasn’t been ‘caught by the paparazzi’ because she has been with the same boyfriend for six years.
Currently living in LA with her partner Brad Ashenfelter, the pop star hints that they have a flexible arrangement.
“He’s a sweetheart, but he also lets me be me,” she explains.
“You know, I’ll call him and be like, ‘I had fun tonight, I met a sweet girl and we had a really good time.’ And he’ll say, ‘Cool babe, I love you.’ It’s so nice.
“I have both male and female energies and so does he. He understands that me being attracted to a woman has nothing to do with my attraction for him.
“He knows that I’m just a wild spirit that needs to run free, and that I always come back to the barn for apples from my boy!”
Kesha, 32, will dive further into her relationship in her music, specifically an upcoming song called ‘Kinky’.

“It’s about how everything is fine as long as we’re honest with each other,” she says.
“That’s the understanding we have, a kinky understanding is what it’s called. As long as there are no secrets, no lies, no hiding anything, let’s just have fun!”
Kesha’s new single ‘Raising Hell’ is out now. Her album ‘High Road’ will be released on January 10.
