Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippon get wet and talk bromance with OUT Magazine – WATCH

Pyeongchang 2018 will go down in the history books for seeing Adam Rippon become the first openly gay US male athlete to win a medal at a Winter Olympics, but the genuine and inspiring friendship the figure skater struck up with fellow out teammate Gus Kenworthy will always be our personal highlight of the Games.
With that being the case, you can imagine our glee to discover that the two US sports stars has stripped off and dived headfirst into a new shoot and interview for OUT magazine, where they recall their pride at representing the LGBT community in South Korea, and how their bromance came into being.
To be in Pyeongchang, and get to walk into this huge stadium as myself, as an out gay man, and do it alongside Adam was the biggest, best moment of my entire life”, Gus says.
“And that was why it was so important for me to find him. Because I felt like we had the same story, and I wanted to share that moment with him.
“It was the highlight of the entire Games for me.”
Adam adds: “It was mine too.”
26-year-old Gus, who won a silver medal at the Sochi Games in 214 before coming out the world a year later, also recounts the pair’s first meeting, revealing that the athletes hit it off from the start.
“It was like sparks flying. We met, and hugged, and vented about our accommodation, and talked about the people on our team, and RuPaul’s Drag Race, and then suddenly we were best friends”, he says.
Asked whether his boyfirned, actor Matt Wilkas, is jealous of the close bond he shares with Adam, Gus jokes: “Who’s Matt?”
“No, Matt adores Adam”, he adds.
Adam, who went public with his own boyfriend for the first time earlier this week, continues: “I was really excited to see Matt when he came to Korea. And I messaged with him after he commented on some pictures of me and Gus. I was like, I’m going to write back so he doesn’t think I’m trash”.
Gus quips: “You are trash, though.”
“I just didn’t want him to think it right away,” 28-year-old Adam replies. “I wanted him to get there on his own.”
“It’s a journey of discovery,” Gus concludes.
