Gus Kenworthy reveals all that went into THAT naked mountainside shoot on ‘Ellen’ – WATCH
The Olympic freeskiier stopped by The Ellen Show this week.
Olympic freeskiier Gus Kenworthy has finally opened up about his ESPN naked shoot.
Though the 26-year-old is busy preparing to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics, he managed to make an appearance on The Ellen Show.
During his interview with DeGeneres, the host brought up a photo from his naked shoot for ESPN’s Body Issue, showing Kenworthy posing naked on the side of a mountain.
But Ellen asked the all-important question: “Is it better to ski naked?”
Kenworthy joked: “Yeah, I mean Alpine skiiers ski in a skinsuit and that’s what I was doing too.”
DeGeneres then asked the skiier whether it was cold during the shoot.
“It was freezing,” Kenworthy explained. “So when I shot this, we were supposed to be in warm weather.
“It was in Mammoth in California in the springtime and I was expecting like slushy snow and the sun. It was freezing. It was not warm at all. It was windy. We had to be outside for six hours.”
“It was cold,” he added.
Ellen then said something we all agree with: “Well, that’s a beautiful shot, though.”
“Sometimes beauty is pain,” she added.
Later on in the show, Kenworthy spoke about Vice President Mike Pence being chosen as the leader of the US Delegation at the 2018 Olympics.
He said: “It just seems like a strange choice,” he said. “We’re in 2018, we’re going to the Olympics, and myself and Adam Rippon are the first two openly gay males competing in the Olympics.
“It’s incredible to see how times have changed… But then, to have someone leading the delegation that’s directly attacked the LGBT community, it seems like a bad fit.
“The Olympics is all about inclusion, people coming together.”
