Team GB divers Chris Mears and Jack Laugher secured a bronze medal – and a place at Rio 2016 – with their performance in the synchronised 3m springboard final at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan last night (July 27), and as is our sporting duty, we’re bringing you all the highlights…
Cheered on by teammate Tom Daley, the duo battled back from a poor start to score 445.2 and finish third behind China and Russia, and give Britain its first World Championship medal in the event, and first World Championship diving medal since Tom Daley’s gold in 2009 in Rome, the BBC reports.
“This is a biggie for us,” said Laugher afterwards. “It’s probably the crowning achievement of my career so far and to have my best mate stood next to me as well is what makes it even sweeter.”
