Not to be outdone by one Ms Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue has been announced as the headline act at New York City’s Pride Island this summer.
The ‘Spinning Around’ singer will take to the stage at New York City Pride’s two-day musical festival at Pier 97 on Sunday 24 June, supported by DJ Grind, DJ Ralphi Rosario and DJ Corey Craig.
Swedish songstress Tove Lo is set to headline on the Saturday (June 23), supported by the likes of Lizzo, Big Freedia and RuPaul’s Drag Race season nine winner Sasha Velour.
New York City Pride is set to take place from 14 -24 June, with a diversity-championing theme of ‘Defiantly Different’.
“With the success of last year’s Pride Island, we are thrilled to bring back our music festival in a two-day format,” says Pride Island director Jose Ramos, Pride Island Director.
Pride co-chair David Studinski adds: “This year’s theme is about showing our power, squaring our shoulders in the face of adversity, and continuing to sculpt that magnetic bond within the LGBTQ+ community and our allies.
“The corresponding creative showcases a wide selection of defiantly different community members—from performance artists to mental health advocates. We are standing defiantly—defiantly different and defiantly as one.”
Pride Island’s announcement comes as Kylie prepares to release 14th studio album Golden on April 6 ahead of a new tour of the UK and Ireland this autumn.
The Golden Tour will kick off in Newcastle on September 18 before stopping in Cardiff, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Dublin and Belfast. Pre-sale tickets will be available 48 hours before the general sale begins on Friday, March 2.
Meanwhile, tickets for New York City’s Pride Island go on sale on 1 March here.
