Naked tourists cause outrage among Barcelona residents
By Josh Haggis
A group of Barcelona residents have protested against the so-called “anti-social behaviour” of tourists in the Spanish city.
Demonstrators took to the streets recently calling for local officials to combat “drunken tourism” after photos of a group of naked tourists running through one of the city’s neighbourhoods – watched by horrified onlookers – went viral online.
“We’re tired of low-cost, drunken tourism,” one of the demonstration’s leaders, Oriol Casabella, told The Guardian. “It’s killing our neighborhood and dissuading other types of tourists. It’s Magaluf all over again.”
Public nudity was legal in the Barcelona up until two years ago, when it was banned after residents complained about tourists’ inappropriate attire at culturally important sites in the city.
Last month (July) dancers took to the streets of Los Angeles in their birthday suits to promote a new VH1 series called Dating Naked. See what happened here.
