LGBTQ causes are being encouraged to sign up to benefit from Britain’s new Rainbow Lottery, launching today.
A whopping 50p from every £1 ticket will go exclusively to LGBTQ causes, who will have their own page on the Rainbow Lottery website.
Players of the lottery can choose which good cause to support and have a 50-to-one chance of winning one of the prizes, including a £25,000 jackpot.
The lottery was officially launched today at a virtual launch event to good causes, as well as through ads on GAYDIO.
Good causes who want to benefit can register now at www.rainbowlottery.co.uk. The website is also where supporters can buy tickets after the public launch on 22 April.
“A really important day for the community”
Tom Gattos, Founder of Rainbow Central CIC, who operate The Rainbow Lottery said: “This is a really important day for the community. It is the first UK lottery where all LGBTQ+ good causes can now receive funds that will make a big difference to their vital work.
“This lottery finally puts us on a level playing field with others, which is in fact, all the LGBTQ+ community has ever asked of the world.”
Lottery management company, Gatherwell, has been appointed to run the scheme, having launched many other successful lotteries and are this year’s ‘Lottery Operator of the Year’ voted by the Lottery Council.
Ben Speare, Gatherwell’s managing director, said: “We are delighted that Gatherwell has been awarded the opportunity to run the new Rainbow Lottery. We’re looking forward to helping support LGBTQ+ good causes in partnership with RAINBOW CENTRAL CIC.”
